Metlife is reorganizings itself into two smaller companies, in the wake of being designated Systemically Important Financial Institution (SIFI). The new companies will be Metlife and Brighthouse Financial.  Many products are being discontinued and term insurance will only be available for face amounts of $1,000,000 and over, starting Feb 3rd, 2017.
